Sassuolo midfielder Maxime Lopez admits he turned down earlier in his career.
The former Olympique Marseille attacker has been outstanding for Sassuolo this season.
Lopez recalled to La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I said no to Liverpool when I was 16 because I didn't feel like leaving home when I was young and I stayed at Marseille.
"Years later it seemed that Barcelona wanted me, I'm a Barça fan and it would have been a dream, but it went differently.
"I confess I didn't know much about the Neroverdi. The coach called me and told me about his football which was like mine."
