Eddie Howe says Newcastle United lacked "rhythm" in their 1-0 Premier League loss to Everton.

The Toffees and Magpies played out a tightly contested game, which featured more than ten minutes of stoppage time in the second half due to a protestor incident mid-game.

Alex Iwobi struck the winner for Everton in the 99th minute, helping his side's chances of staying up.

Speaking with reporters post-game, Newcastle coach Howe said: "In the first half we were good, controlled the game.

"The only thing that was missing in that period was a goal... I think that was missing the entire game for us today. We got into some good positions but the normal rhythm wasn't there."
