Marcos Asensio hasn't yet settled on a new contract with Real Madrid.
Marca says although the relationship between the parties is fluid and with frequent contact, the decisive talks around his contract have not yet begun.
The club and the player's agent have agreed to meet soon, with the exact date to be determined. It's a complicated period for Real Madrid, wherein the day-to-day operations demand maximum attention, but so does the planning for next season.
Asensio's priority is to extend his current contract with Real Madrid, which expires in June 2023. The club's higher-ups are aware that his negotiating position is very good, as if he does not sign in the coming months, he will be able to leave for free in at the end of next season.
They are confident, however, that a solution will be found and he will sign a new deal.
