Manchester United are lining up a move for Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.

The Daily Star says United, seemingly resigned to losing out to Manchester City over Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, are now turning their attention to Isak instead.

They believe the Swede, 22, is the next best option in the current market - and represents decent value for money.

The Spanish club, currently fifth in La Liga, value Isak, who has scored eight times in all competitions this term, at around the £60million mark.

The hitman's overall record since joining Sociedad is impressive, with 30 league goals in 90 La Liga games since his arrival Borussia Dortmund two years ago.

And that means United face stiff competition in their pursuit, which in turn is likely to drive up the player's transfer fee.

Arsenal are reportedly willing to blow close to £75m on the Isak while Liverpool are also watching the situation.

Much could depend on who out of Arsenal and Manchester United can claim that final Champions League qualifying spot.
