Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke says they'll be powerless if Manchester City firm up their interest in Erling Haaland.

However, Watzke says they'll be well prepared should they lose the Norway international.

"We still don't know anything specific from the player, nor has anyone approached us," Watke said.

"We will not be able to endure financially if Manchester City comes for him."

Watzke also said: "We have seen it a few times. We lost Lewandowski, who went to Bayern in 2014 [with the release letter], and Aubameyang, who left for Arsenal in 2018 [for more than 60 million euros]. We have always created a new star.

"If Haaland leaves, we will find another new talent and make him a star."
