Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the number of Covid-19 infections in Sabah continued a stabilising trend with 245 new cases Sunday, a drop by 24 compared to Saturday’s 269.
He said almost all districts recorded a drop in the number of daily infections including zero cases in six districts, namely Kalabakan, Tongod, Nabawan, Kunak, Telupid and Semporna.
Only five districts recorded an increase in the number of daily cases, with the exception of Kota Kinabalu (97 cases) which recorded an increase of almost three times from Saturday’s 36 cases.
The other districts only reported a marginal increase. He said a total of 15 districts recorded new single-digit cases, six districts with double-digit and another six districts did not record any new cases of infection in the past 24 hours.
However the risk of sporadic infection remains high and today, 59.59 per cent of all cases are new.
“Although the number of new infections in Sabah is under control, it is highly recommended that the people continue to comply with all Standard Operating Procedures in force,” he said.
Meanwhile, a total of 242 people or 98.77 per cent of the 245 new patients Sunday were in Category 1 and 2, one in Category 3 and two patients in Category 4. There were no new cases in Category 5 on Sunday.
