LAHAD DATU: A team from the General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 17 confiscated a motorcycle and contraband cigarettes worth RM11,000 while patrolling an oil palm plantation in Kg Kenali, here, Wednesday.
Sabah GOF Brigade Commander SAC Abdul Rani Alias said the team on foot patrol noticed a man carrying the box into some bushes at 3.45pm.
The team approached the man, but he bolted into the oil palm plantation.
Following a thorough search of the area, a motorcycle and a huge box of cigarette were discovered by the team.
The confiscated goods were turned over to the Lahad Datu district police headquarters for further action, according to Abdul Rani.
The case is being probed under the Customs Act 1967.
