Argentina great Mario Kempes is convinced Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez is ready to go to a new level.
Kempes was happy seeing Lautaro score the winner at Champions League opponents Liverpool in midweek.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Did somebody had doubts about Lautaro? I was sure that he would have returned to his level, he is a top striker.
“The trust of the coach was crucial. Lautaro always played, if he hadn't done it, he could have been demoralized. With Inzaghi, the opposite happened. The substitution in the Champions League may have been a bit awkward, but he's always had trust in Lautaro. At the same time, El Toro has never lowered the guard.
"To score in one of the most fascinating stadiums in the world is something that remains inside and gives motivation. A new phase begins now, Lautaro can reach every target.
"I liked every Inter player against Liverpool, not just Lautaro. I saw a smart team with great players. Lautaro's goal was not casual. It was the reward for everyone's work, then there was the red card and everything became more complicated."
