Shine Table Tennis Centre Team’s paddlers capture seven golds

Kota Kinabalu: Newly-formed Shine Table Tennis Centre Team (STTC) captured a total of seven gold, five silver and 14 bronze medals in the 2022 Kota Kinabalu Table Tennis Open Championship held at Olympia Badminton Arena in Inanam over the weekend.

The gold medal winners were Aaric Wong (men’s singles), Aadah Wong (Perpaduan women singles & girls U-15), Dr Kew (veteran singles), Hypatia Chong (girls U-10), Esly Soulis (boys U-13), Elcy Soulis (girls U-13).

The silvers came from Elys Soulis (girls U-10), Vinson Land (boys U-10), Sia Hsiao Ching (women’s singles), Sherry Wong (veterans), Joshua Chin (boys U-18), while the bronze medals were delivered by Chong Jin Xuan, Chong Jin Hao (boys U-10), Kew Zi Harn, Hypatia Chong (girls U-13), Esly Soulis (boys U-15), Kew Zi Harn, Elcy Soulis (girls U-15), Aadah Wong, Elcy Soulis (girls U-18), Joshua Chin (men’s singles), Aidah Wong, Connie Leong (women’s singles), Esly Soulis and Raymond Kew (boys U-18).

Former State players and one of the coaches for the team Han Shin Nee said the team set up in December last year is based at Wisma HCS in Jalan Kolam.

She also expressed her gratitude to the parents for the support in encouraging their children to take up the sport.
