Former Everton attacker James McFadden hailed the manner of their victory over Manchester United today.
Anthony Gordon struck for the 1-0 win.
McFadden said: "The result is the most important thing but the things that have been questioned of Everton - character, defensive capabilities, the ability to see out a performance - they were all on show today.
"Jordan Pickford was outstanding, Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey have both come in for a lot of criticism but they were excellent, difficult to beat, putting blocks in.
"Great performances all over the pitch for Everton, a fantastic result but there's still a lot to be done. What they've shown is that they can perform at home and the fans will get behind them - it would be easy of the fans to turn today and wait to be entertained but they didn't, they turned up in numbers and they've got something to shout about today."
