BEAUFORT: Police arrested a 35-year-old male suspect and seized eight packets of what is believed to be Syabu weighing 6.60gm from a hut at a pineapple plantation in Kg Takuli on Tuesday.

District Police Chief Yusoff Zaki Yaccob confirmed the arrest saying the suspect was apprehended at noon.

“As a result of the interrogation, the suspect revealed the location of eight transparent plastics containing clear crystals suspected to be syabu.

“The suspect was taken to the station and underwent an initial urine test, showed the suspect was positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine,” he said, adding that he would be investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1952.

Soon after, Yusoff Zaki stated that the Beaufort District Traffic Enforcement Investigation Division apprehended a 38-year-old suspect driving a Perodua Kancil in Kg Lumatai.

He said during the inspection, it was discovered that the man did not have a valid class D driver’s licence and that he was taken to the station for inspection and further action.

“The suspect tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine in the urine screening test, and the case was investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
