Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira says he won't demand protection for Wilfried Zaha from match officials.
Zaha has been persistently fouled in games this season.
But Vieira said: "I'm against protecting players. The challenges are part of the game. Zaha or any other player needs to deal with the quality they have. Teams tried to stop them. Leeds were smart with different players fouling.
"He has to deal with it and he did well against Leeds. I don't want him to lose that fire. We have to manage it but referees have to understand the game as well.
"I think it's important to be positive. For him to understand why players try to make him lose his control. It's because of his talent and quality and how he can hurt them. It's a compliment. It's about how he concentrates on his game, playing as best he can."
