Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s cases dipped to 65 on Saturday from a three-digit spike of 149 the day earlier while one death was recorded in Kuala Penyu, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“After a startling announcement of a new education cluster in Lahad Datu on Friday, the Covid-19 situation in all Sabah districts re-stabilised and is under control.

“No additional cases were recorded among students in the SM Sains Lahad Datu cluster so far, and the district did not record any new cases in the previous 24 hours,” he said in a statement, Saturday, adding that no new clusters were identified.

Masidi said Kota Kinabalu was the only district that recorded double-digit figures with 20 cases, while surrounding districts recorded a low number of cases, namely Tuaran with two cases, Penampang (6) and Papar (9), while Putatan did not record any new cases.

“A total of 16 districts recorded single-digit figures, of which seven recorded just one case. No new cases were recorded in 10 districts, namely Beluran, Kunak, Lahad Datu, Pitas, Putatan, Ranau, Sipitang, Tambunan, Telupid and Tongod,” he added.

He said the majority of cases were mild, with 60 out of 65 being category one and two infections.

“Two cases were in category three, one in category four and two in category five,” he said.
