LAHAD DATU: The Eastern Sabah security Command (Esscom) expects to face some challenges following the reopening of national borders and the transition to endemic phase since Friday (April 1).

Esscom Commander DCP Hamzah Ahmad said there are fears cross-border criminal activities would increase compared to when the border was closed during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period. This includes the possibility of Kidnap For Ransom (KFR) groups taking advantage of the presence of tourists in the East Coast.
