Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s three female Kata exponents Lovelly Anne Robberth, Niathalia Sherawinnie Ak Yampil and Nancy Nelly Evvaferra have been called up by Malaysia Karate Federation (Makaf) to train in Bukit Jalil under the Pelapis programme this month.
Sabah Karate Association’s secretary general Julian Chin when contacted on Wednesday said they are very happy for them and wish them all the best.
“Lovelly who is from SKA Penampang, Niathalia from SKA main dojo and Nancy from Dynamic Karate Club have been training regularly at our main dojo under the supervision of State coach Farlin Frederick together with the State Sukma team before the call-up.
“The three SPM students are to continue their studies at one of the schools in Bukit Jalil and they will be teaming up with Amirah Syahirah Azlan from SKA Keningau who is our sole kumite athlete there.
“We believe the trio have the potential to be selected to represent Malaysia in the coming SEA Games in Vietnam this coming May, should they excel during training,” he said.
Meanwhile, both Lovelly Ann and Amirah had recently contributed bronze medals for Malaysia in the 9th SEAKF Senior Karate Championship in Cambodia.
