SHAH ALAM - The Health Ministry is ready to cooperate with industry players and academicians to conduct clinical studies related to the use of Cannabidiol (CBD) for medical purposes.

Its minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the study could be coordinated with the collaboration between the Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) and Clinical Research Malaysia (CRM).

"Much discussion of late on medicinal use of marijuana. The ministry has been consistent in practicing evidence-based policy.

"That's why we have welcomed clinical studies for the use of CBD for medicinal purposes," he wrote on Twitter.

However, he said the ministry has yet to receive any full report on the clinical studies.

“Much expressions of interest, talk and social media advocacy.

"The ministry welcomes industry or academia initiated research for the medicinal use of CBD. We are ready to collaborate," he added.
