Kota Kinabalu: Sabah on Monday issued guidelines for international visitors coming by sea, land and air.

International travellers will have the opportunity to have a Covid-19 RTK-Antigen detection test (administered by professional health personnel) performed within 24 hours of their arrival, either at the international gateway or outside the international gateway.

International “transit” travellers at Malaysia’s international gateway outside Sabah are allowed to continue their journey to Sabah and given the option to have a Covid-19 RTK-Antigen detection test (administered by trained health personnel) performed within 24 hours of arrival, either at the international gateway entrance or outside the international gateway.

International “transit” travellers through Singapore who arrive at the Sabah international gateway will have the option of having a Covid-19 RTK-Antigen detection test (performed by trained health personnel) done within 24 hours of their arrival, either at the international gateway or outside the international gateway.

Meanwhile, Sabah’s new Covid-19 infections dipped below 50 on Monday, with 48, the lowest since March 31, last year.

In comparison to Sunday’s 60 cases, Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the latest report showed a decline of 12 cases.

Masidi said in a statement Monday that the situation in all districts has stabilised, with slight daily number variations, both up and down.

All districts in Sabah recorded new cases below five, with the exception of Kota Kinabalu, which recorded 21 new cases (-5).

“In fact, in 11 areas, no new infections were reported. Eight of the 15 districts with new single-digit infections only had one new case,” he said.

According to him, the low infection rate is due to the efficiency of vaccines, which has been provided to practically all of Sabah’s eligible population He said the high degree of standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance among Sabah residents also helped in preventing the Covid virus from spreading further.

“It is hoped that this high level of discipline will be maintained, particularly as we approach Aidilfitri,” he said.

Meanwhile, 44 of the 48 new cases on Monday are in categories one and two, three in category four and one into category five. There are no patients in category three.
