Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is willing to keep hold of Marcelo beyond the end of this season.
The 33 year-old veteran comes off contract in June and accepts he won't be offered new terms.
However, TeleMadrid says Florentino is willing to hand Marcelo a new contract - but not as a player.
Instead, the Brazilian will be offered a role within the club's structure, so long as he's prepared to hang up the boots.
For the moment, Marcelo is planning to play on next season, with offers on the table from Brazil.
