TAWAU: The State Government has approved RM10 million to rebuild homes destroyed in Tawau's Kg Kurnia Jaya fire on March 17 and also RM8.2 million for Kg Bangau-Bangau, Semporna homes razed by fire seven years ago.

Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor today handed over mock cheques for these purposes to Tawau Municipal Council President Joseph Pang and Semporna District Officer Juraimin Jadil.

Hajiji said the allocations will be managed by the local authority to be channelled to fire victims so that they can live in better homes.

He said the assistance showed the government cared about the fire victims especially in this month of Ramadan and in light of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Hajiji also handed over cash aid to the Kg Kurnia Jaya fire victims in a ceremony held at the Tawau Community Hall.
