TAMPARULI: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said the party is ready to defend the Tuaran parliamentary seat for Barisan Nasional (BN), citing the addition of 5,482 new PBRS members in Tuaran to the existing 4,500 members.
“With over 10,300 members in the Tuaran Parliamentary constituency, PBRS is sure that it will be able to defend the Tuaran Parliamentary seat, which has been a stronghold of BN since the 11th General Election in 2004,” Kurup said.
Kurup said this after receiving 210 submissions from Pintasan, 130 from Kadamaian, 1,512 from Pantai Dalit, 1,224 Sulaman, 2, 234 Tamparuli, 872 Kiulu, and 1, 050 Inanam during a recent event held at Dewan Tun Hamdan Tamparuli, resulting in a total of 7, 232 new PBRS members.
The current surge of people joining PBRS in all regions of Sabah, he added, shows that people’s faith in the BN’s capacity to rule the country has returned, and they want the country to have the same political and economic stability it had during the BN’s government.
Kurup urged all levels of the Sabah people to unite in support of all BN candidates in the upcoming General Election for the State’s advancement, prosperity, and development, and expressed hope that the people would no longer be duped by the opposition’s empty promises.
“We fight for the future of our grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as the progress, prosperity, and development of Sabah, and we put aside political feelings that are harmful to the people of Sabah,” he said.
