KENINGAU: Two sawmill buildings in Jalan Keningau-Apin-Apin, here, were destroyed in a fire early Friday.

The District Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 12.08am and 22 firefighters led by Operations Officer Yuszaimi Hairrul Azwan Juatan rushed to the scene, 12km away, with machinery.

Yuszaimi, who is also Keningau Fire and Rescue Department Chief, said the fire involved a warehouse building that was 90 per cent burnt and a block of non-permanent six-door workers’ houses which were 100 per cent burnt.

He said the fire was brought under control at 12.59am and no casualties were reported.

In Tambunan, Yuszaimi said a Proton Saga and a van collided in Kampung Karanaan, on Thursday night.

He said upon receiving a call at 9.21pm, 10 firefighters from the Tambunan Fire and Rescue Station led by Severinus Sixtus Geoffrey rushed to the scene. According to him, the two drivers of the vehicles did not suffer any injuries and the operation ended at 11.25pm.
