International football star Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez who earlier announced that they were expecting twins, have announced that one of the two babies has died during childbirth.
The couple posted a joint statement on Instagram, expressing their sadness over the news.
"It is with deep sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parent can feel.
"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
“Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you,” they wrote.
It was, however, not revealed how their son had died.
Asking for privacy amidst this difficult period, the couple expressed their gratitude towards the doctors and nurses for their expert care and support.
Ronaldo is a father to four other children, including a pair of fraternal twins.
Out of the four children, Rodriguez is the biological mother to their 3-year-old daughter Alana Martina, 4.
