Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Covid-19 situation is stabilising with cases expected to hover around the 60 to 150 mark.

However sporadic infections are still high and international flights to Sabah would also increase risk of transmissions within the community, warned Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“However, it is hoped that the health protocols for all international passengers as well as the enforced standard operating procedures (SOP) will be able to control the risk of such infections,” he said, Sunday.

Sabah’s cases remained relatively low on Sunday with 69 cases, a marginal rise from 63 the day earlier. 58 per cent of cases were sporadic.

“Overall, the situation is stable. Except for Kota Kinabalu which recorded 20 cases, 18 districts in Sabah recorded single-digit cases, of which 12 recorded only one or two cases.

“Eight districts did not record any new cases,” he said, adding that no deaths or new clusters were identified.

Masidi said the majority of cases are mild, with 65 out of 69 patients being category one and two infections, while there was one case each in category three and five and two in category four.

On Sabah’s immunisation programme, 7,526 individuals took their vaccines on Apr 16, of which 832 were adults, 517 were teenagers and 6,177 were children.
