Benfica striker Darwin Nunez has dropped a major Manchester United transfer hint.

Nunez has scored 32 goals in 37 appearances this season, and it's no surprise that the 22-year-old is wanted by many of the top clubs around Europe.

A summer move is expected as Nunez has already parted ways with his representatives, putting the likes of United, Arsenal and Newcastle on red alert. And following speculation, the Uruguayan has dropped a major hint that could hand United the advantage.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United striker Edinson Cavani is reportedly Nunez' 'idol', and the Uruguayan could be the perfect replacement for his compatriot, who is expected to leave. And speculation surrounding Nunez' future has intensified as he announced on Twitter: "I want to clarify that I will not renew my contract with my representative Edgardo Lasalvia."

And he also hinted that his future could be away from Benfica this summer, although he respectfully declined to comment until the end of the season. Nunez said: "I really don't know what's gonna happen. But I'm not gonna speak about my future before the end of the season."
