Family escapes Ranau fire

RANAU: A family of four managed to escape to safety when their house was almost burnt down in a fire near here, Friday.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Department Chief PPgB Ridwan Mohd Taib said the 1am incident happened in Kg Kemburongoh, located about 30km from the Fire Station.

He said the husband and wife together with their two children fled the house in time as it began to be engulfed in flames.

“We received a call at 1.10am informing about the incident and rushed a fire engine and an EMRS vehicle to the scene in Jalan Ranau-Tambunan near Randagong, along with six personnel led by Operations Officer PBK II KUP Norasli Nauh.

“Upon arrival, our team found the house was 90 per cent burnt and used a single 100-foot stream and one water jet from the machinery tank,” he said.

According to the victims, Ridwan said, the fire was first noticed on one of the bedrooms of the house. The cause of the fire and loss are under investigation.
