Crystal Palace co-owner David Blitzer is on the brink of buying St Etienne.

Blitzer made an offer for ASSE over the weekend.

And L'Equipe says Blitzer has planned two different formulas if ASSE remains in Ligue 1 or in the event of relegation to Ligue 2. Therefore, whatever happens on Saturday for the last round of L1, the American businessman is determined to buy ASSE.

Blitzer wants to buy outright, despite the current board favouring a minority stake being sold.

The American has turned to St Etienne after being part of Sir Martin Broughton's failed attempt to buy Chelsea.
