
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded 43 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, the same as on Sunday, bringing the State’s total to 371,652, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“The number of districts that recorded an increase and decrease in new cases is almost the same,” he said in his daily update.
“Eight districts recorded an increase in new cases while six districts registered a decrease.
“Four districts, namely Lahad Datu, Ranau, Tambunan and Tenom which recorded zero cases on Sunday, recorded new
infections on Monday, with Tenom recording two cases and the others one case each.
“Three districts, namely Kunak, Tawau and Kuala Penyu, which recorded new cases on Sunday, did not register any new infections on Monday.”
A total of 15 districts did not record any new infections in the past 24 hours.
“Some 42 new cases today were in Category 1 and Category 2, while another case was in Category 5,” he said.
About 67 per cent of the new cases on Monday were detected through symptomatic screenings while nearly 14 per cent were from contact screenings and about 19 per cent from other screenings.
Sabah also recorded 38 recoveries (cumulatively 364,699).
As for vaccination, about 2.49 million individuals in Sabah had received their full dosage, as of Sunday (May 22).
