PUTRAJAYA - The Health Ministry did not receive any notifications regarding a child in the country who is infected with monkeypox as claimed in a post that went viral on social media.

The ministry stressed that if it did happen, the child’s guardian must bring the child who was said to be infected with the virus to a nearby government health facility.

“As of 5pm on Tuesday, the ministry did not receive any notifications on a monkeypox infection.

“If the photo (in the viral video) is true, the guardian is advised to take the child to a nearby government health facility immediately for examination and treatment," it said.

Earlier, a screenshot of a child claimed to be infected with the virus had circulated on social media.

The ministry also reminded people to not spread unverified news.
