Sabah lady hulksters to make SEA Games debut

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s bodybuilders Meilaura Doro Jimmy and Shelen Aderina Kok will be making their debut at the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam this weekend.

The duo, who are the only two women representatives in the Malaysian contingent, will see action in the Women’s Open event on Sunday (May 15).

Melaura, who won two gold medals in the 12th World WBPF Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan last year, and Shelen are also participating in the Mixed Pairs event.

The former will team up with Buda Anak Anchah while the latter is paired with Malvern Abdullah and the competition is scheduled to be held after the Women’s Open on the same day. Shelen

Sabah Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) President Joannes Staneslous said on Tuesday that they are proud of the recognition given by the national body to include the duo in the SEA Games team.

“We are very proud that two of our lady bodybuilders are selected to represent Malaysia.

“This will be the first time in our history to have two women representatives at the SEA Games. I hope they do well and make the State and country proud by bringing home medals,” he said.

He added both athletes had left for Kuala Lumpur days earlier to join the

national contingent before leaving for Vietnam.
