Wolves goalkeeper coach Tony Roberts says manager Bruno Lage was in regular contact for their 2-2 draw at Chelsea.
Healthy and fit Lage missed the game due to UK government covid regulations.
Roberts said, “He was in touch with Alex [Silva, assistant coach] and Carlos [Cachada, fitness coach] and we had a bit of a chat at half-time over the phone, but he is very happy, as you can imagine but also disappointed that we came here and we didn't get the three points.
“There was a bit of a situation with one of the subs, but we got there in the end. Sometimes it was a bit confusing to know what was going on and it was harder over the phone, but it was clear in the end and we got the result with the three subs all having an impact.
“They were in constant touch in Portuguese, but the messages got through and we came away with a point. Hopefully he'll be back on Wednesday night because we need him. He's our leader and he's watched it from the training ground today, but the hotseat is too hot!"
Roberts also said: “We want to get to Europe. We've still got a chance, so that's the thing now, we want to get as high as we can, but obviously we've got three tough games coming up, two at home and one away, and if we show that effort and energy, passion and desire to get three points from them, then we've got every chance.
“We want to get into Europe again because these boys have been there before, and we want to go there again and experience that again. We have a big game on Wednesday so we need that spirit and hard work rate if we want to continue again."
