Liverpool were unable to sign Diego Moreira after his family 'hesitated' about their offer.
The 17-year-old winger has started to make a name for himself this season with Benfica, having notched four goals and five assists in ten UEFA Youth League games.
Portuguese outlet A Bola - via The Sun - has reported that Liverpool put forward an offer to sign Moreira in 2020.
At the time, Moreira was playing in the academy of Belgian club Standard Liege.
Jurgen KIopp made a bold proposal for Moreira, but the player's family were ultimately reluctant to join a European powerhouse like Liverpool.
Now Moreira's performances this season have caught the eye of Manchester City.
