Valencia president Anil Murthy has been recorded warning Carlos Soler about forcing a move away.
Secret recordings of Murthy were published by Superdeporte over the weekend.
He is quoted stating: "If you leave for free in January (next, his contract expires in June 2023), I will kill you with all the press.
"You have to bring us some money. You grew up at the Academy and the club invested money in you."
Murthy has also admitted: "It has been clear since the start of the year that he is leaving because he has a lot of ambition. He wants to leave. It has been clear since the start of the season. We must respect it.
"The last thing he wants is to go into conflict. He wants to leave, he wants his parents to be able to go out into the street without any problem. He wants his family to be good here and I totally respect that. But bring me an offer."
