Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s new daily Covid-19 infections rose to 38 cases on Monday, an increase of nine compared to Sunday’s 29 cases.

“As predicted earlier, daily cases of infection will increase during the Aidilfitri and Kaamatan celebrations,” said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic), in a statement, Monday.

He said the increase in Monday’s cases is still considered low and under control.

“In fact, the number of districts that recorded an increase and decrease is the same, namely nine districts each. The number of counties with the same record as yesterday (Sunday) also remained at nine districts,” he said. Kota Kinabalu again recorded double-digit daily infections, with 19 cases (up by 10).

Masidi said the increase in cases in Kota Kinabalu is a major factor influencing the surge in the number of new cases in Sabah.

Ten districts recorded one-digit cases, with six districts only recording one case. No new cases were reported in the other 16 districts in the past 24 hours.

A total of 33 out of 38 patients are in Category 1 and Category 2, two patients in Category 3, two patients in Category 4 and one patient in Category 5.
