
KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian women’s badminton team gets a consolation point after they defeated Egypt in the last Uber Cup Group C match today.
Myisha Mohd Khairul was first to take the court and she made quick work of Egypt’s Doha Hany in 27 minutes, winning 21-5, 21-19.
Youngster Tan Zhing Yi, 19, faced Nour Ahmed Youssri for the second singles match and took down her opponent 21-12, 21-14 in 31 minutes.
Chan Wen Tse was up against Hana Tarek Zaher next and won the match in 32 minutes, with the score being 21-16, 21-16.
For the doubles match, Low Yeen Yuan-Valeree Siow met Jana Ashraf-Jana Hesham Mohamed Abdelkader. They won the match 21-6, 21-10 swiftly in 21 minutes.
The last match saw Anna Cheong-Teoh Mei Xing face Nour Ahmed Youssri-Hana Tarek Zaher. The duo only took 17 minutes to win the match 21-5, 21-4.
The women’s team was automatically kicked out of the Uber Cup yesterday after they lost to Thailand during the second group stage match and failed to defeat Denmark during the first match. – The Vibes, May 10, 2022
