RANAU: The Kaamatan Festival which is held physically this year has a positive impact on the recovery of the State’s tourism sector, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam.

He said the annual Kaamatan Festival is not only a festival celebrated for a month by the Kadazandusun, Murut and Rungus (KDMR) community but also one of the main tourist attractions in the State.

“We are grateful that after two years of no Kaamatan celebration, we can now celebrate it physically by complying with standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the Government,” he said when officiating the Ranau District Sugandoi Kaamatan competition.
