Kota Kinabalu: Virtually unknown Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat) set up by late veteran Sabah politician Datuk Seri Lajim Haji Ukin secured its first Assembly seat without a fight, Sunday, when Parti Warisan’s Kukusan representative Rina Haji Jainal crossed over.
Winning by just a 10-vote margin in the 2020 State election, Rina managed to further reduce opposition Warisan’s strength in the State Assembly now to just 18.
She garnered 2,834 votes against the 2,824 of Chaya Sulaiman of Barisan Nasional (BN), in that 16th State Election then.
