BEAUFORT: Three men were arrested at the Padas Valley road sewerage scheme project site on suspicion of stealing iron on Sunday.
The arrest was made after police were notified by the construction site manager, according to District Police Chief Yusoff Zaki Yaacob.
Initially, police apprehended a lorry driver, but his two accomplices managed to flee.
The two were eventually caught in a hotel room after police were able to persuade the arrested lorry driver to call them and inquire about their whereabouts.
After further questioning, the three admitted to taking iron from the construction site using a crane.
