Kota Kinabalu: Kinabalu Jaguar Football Club (KJFC) thrashed Ultimate FC 6-0 to avenge their first round defeat in the M3 Group A match at Likas Stadium on Saturday evening.
The home team, who lost the season opener 0-1 back in February, came out with all guns blazing in front of the home supporters and the opening goal came as early as in the 10th minute when Muhd Faqhrurazi Ahmad’s powerful header from a Zulkifly Harun cross gave Ultimate FC’s goalkeeper Ahmet Akef Alkan no chance.
Ten minutes later, Ariusdius Jais added the second after a neat pass from Aidil Safee before he turned provider in the 34th minute for Zulkifly to score the third goal.
KJFC maintained their attacking play at the restart and Ariusdius continued his scoring form with his second goal of the match from a header following an assist by Faqhrurazi Ahmad in the 47th minute.
The fifth goal in the 55th minute came from Afiq Yunus with another header following a rebound after Aidil Safee’s powerful shot hit the post, and just before the final whistle, Afiq Yunus scored his second from a pass by Mohd Jayman Mohd Jaymi.
With the win, KJFC are now top of the group with 22 points, the same as Manjung City FC but with a better goal difference as well as a game in hand.
KJFC team manager Adzhar Mohamad was delighted with the players’ performance and hoped they can maintain their momentum in the following matches.
“I am very satisfied with the players. Ultimate FC were the only team to beat us in the first round, so I was surprised with the big win.
“They played really well throughout the 90 minutes and had created a lot of chances.
“I hope they can continue their winning form and maintain our top position in the group with another home victory against Immigration FC this Saturday,” he said.
