Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Football Club and Tabs Safa Bandaraya have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop football in the State for the next four years.
Under the agreement, Tabs will receive training attire, balls, bibs and their coaches will also be given the opportunity to have an attachment with Sabah FC head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee.
According to Sabah FC Chief Executive Officer Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Sabah FC Technical Director Scott Ollerenshaw has been tasked to work closely with Tabs on the implementation of the development programme including identifying new talents.
“This collaboration will certainly bring further success with Tabs’ 20 years of experience in football development programmes and record of producing many State players in the past,” he said on Thursday.
He also expressed his appreciation to Tabs Safa Bandaraya’s chairman Sulaiman Mohd Nor, his deputy Lokman Sunggim and head coach Matasan Ahmad for their cooperation and support.
Meanwhile, Sulaiman believed the cooperation is set to benefit both parties in their efforts to produce more new talents for the State in the future.
A ribbon cutting ceremony on the installation of signboards for the joint programme was also held at the Tabs training field on Wednesday which was officiated by Rhinos team manager Marzuki Nasir.
Also present were Kim Swee, Scott, Sulaiman Mohd Nor, Lokman Sunggim, Matasan and Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin’s political secretary Kurniawan Naim Moktar.
