Liverpool chief Julian Ward is eager to drive down the asking price for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

Benfica are demanding €80m up front plus a further €20m in bonuses, though Ward is attempting to strike terms for €70m.

O Jogo says Nunez has 'already said yes' to joining the Reds.

Nunez was left out of Uruguay's game against Panama as expected on Saturday night - although Liverpool say it wasn't at their request.

The 22-year-old could head to Merseyside for a medical this week if Ward concludes the deal.

At Benfica's price, it would make Nunez Liverpool's richest transfer ahead of Virgil van Dijk.
