
SEMPORNA: The Marine Police Force (PPM) seized a total of 149 sawn timber worth about RM25,370 and arrested four men suspected involved in stealing from forest reserves.
The Commanding Officer of PPM Semporna Operations Headquarters, DSP Mohamad Ismail said the suspects were arrested at 3am on Thursday together with their boats near the Kg Keramat Forest Reserve, Pulau Timbun Mata, here.
He said the arrests were made for offences under the Forestry Enactment 1968 for possessing timber suspected stolen from forest reserves.
“The total value of the seizure was RM25,370 based on the current market price.” The sawn timber seized.
Mohamad said the confiscated items and the suspects were brought to the PPM Semporna operations headquarters for investigation and the case will be referred to the Forestry Department for further action.
He urged the public to channel information related to illegal activities directly through WhatsApp of the PPM Sabah Communication Centre at 013-9391197.
