
KUALA LUMPUR - Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has said that he will "talk" to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the right time to hold 15th general elections (GE15).
"We need to (start) making preparations for the next general elections. Although some may want to know for sure when GE15 will be held, let the prime minister and me to discuss and determine the best time for us to face elections," he said during Barisan Nasional Convention today at the World Trade Centre here.
Earlier, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had told two top Umno leaders to discuss with the prime minister "to help him make the right choice" and to take the "right position" to hold the 15th General Elections (GE15).
"This is not about Zahid Hamidi or Najib or Ismail Sabri Yaakob, it is about BN and the country's future," Najib had said.
This comes after Ismail Sabri indicated that he is in no rush to call for a general election anytime soon He was reported in Nikkei Asia that rising costs in food and other living expenses were among the reasons to push back the elections, which only need to be called by September next year.
