L'Equipe says the Reds have made a check on Sow on the recommendation of Liverpool midfielder and Guinea teammate Naby Keita.
Liverpool had scouts posted to see Sow up against Egypt and Mohamed Salah this week in Cairo, with the home nation winning 1-0.
The 19 year-old has a deal with ASSE to 2025.
