KENINGAU: A 24-year-old local was killed when his motorcycle collided with a Perodua Viva at Bingkor Bypass, near Kampung Sasaie, here, on Sunday.

District Police Chief Deputy Supt Nor Rafidah Kasim said the victim died while receiving treatment at the Keningau Hospital Emergency Unit.

She said investigations at the scene found that the accident occurred when the victim was travelling from Kampung Singgah Mata towards Keningau town while the Viva driven by a 51-year-old man was moving in the opposite direction.

“On arrival at the scene, the victim failed to control the motorcycle, entered the lane of the Viva and collided with it.

“The victim who did not wear a helmet was thrown onto the road while the Viva skidded to the left side of the road,” she said. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
