Bayern Munich have ended talks with Arsene Wenger about becoming their new manager.

The German champions held talks with the former Arsenal boss following the sacking of Niko Kovac earlier this week.

Wenger, 70, was believed to be the front-runner and called club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to express his desire to take over at the Allianz.

But it appears Bayern have rejected his advances and opportunity to step back into work because they could not agree on a length of contract, says The Sun.

Wenger wanted a long-term deal but Bayern were keen on offering him a contract until the end of the season before assessing whether to appoint a more youthful boss.
