Ferland Mendy is happy to fight for his place at Real Madrid.
The left-back, who arrived in the summer from Lyon, recognises he is currently understudy to veteran Marcelo.
Mendy said, "I will be his successor.
"There is a lot of time left, but if they have brought me here, it is because they see potential.
"I have to work, but why not (succeed Marcelo)?"
