Burnley were beaten by Getafe to the signing of Barcelona fullback Marc Cucurella, it has been revealed.
Marca says Burnley made a bid of 12m to Barcelona for Cucurella before the 20-year-old decided to move to Getafe on a season-long loan.
The bid is understood to have come in before a deal was struck between the two clubs.
However, the promising youngster, who was at loan at Eibar last season, opted to stay in Spain instead.
During his presentation at Getafe, Cucurella revealed that he was swayed by the proposition of playing under Jose Bordalas as well as the attraction of Europa League football.
