Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhttl admits his players weren't good enough after defeat at home to Everton.

The visitors took the lead early on, but Saints rallied thereafter and drew level via Danny Ings's seventh of the season - only to be stung late on by a Richarlison decider.

"The result is horrible for us," the Austrian said, frankly. "We conceded very early in the first half, which was simply not good enough.

"We showed a good reaction at the beginning of the second half, which was the only positive thing I can say today.

"You could feel that the guys wanted to turn the table, and made a good goal. But then killed our game with the way we conceded.

"We tried to get more and more offensive; that is the only chance we have in this moment. Sofiane [Boufal] had a good impact on the game, but it means that sometimes defensively it is a bit risky.

"We gave them a lot of space, and killed us off with the second goal.

"The shape was difficult after we lost Pierre [to concussion], but that isn't the reason why we didn't win. I think we invested a lot, but finally, in the moment, we aren't good enough."
