Mundo Deportivo says Abidal was in the stands to see Napoli's comfortable 4-1 win over Lecce.
And the subject of the Frenchman's interest was Napoli pair Fabian Ruiz and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Both midfielder Ruiz and defender Koulibaly are high on the shopping list of Barca.
However, any January move is unlikely as Barca do not have the necessary funds available.
