Jordan Henderson says it is important Liverpool keep on winning trophies after Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup final success over Chelsea.

The Reds clinched victory in Istanbul thanks to the penalty shootout heroics of Adrian, who stopped Tammy Abraham's effort after the game finished 2-2 in normal time.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for the Blues before Sadio Mane equalised shortly after half-time.

Mane nabbed his second in extra-time but Chelsea responded through a Jorginho penalty after Adrian fouled Abraham in the box.

But it was the Spaniard who had the last laugh when he denied the 21-year-old's spot-kick when it mattered most.

Speaking to BT Sport, Henderson said: "It was tough, it's humid here, with it going to extra-time as well. You could see a lot of the lads were struggling. We were trying to keep the ball and get a breather but it was a bit sloppy.

"Chelsea are a good side and it's not a great way to lose. We know that after the Community Shield but thankfully we won this one.

"We didn't play particularly well but we kept grinding, kept going. It's another trophy for us and it's important to keep winning."
